Louis Chevrolet was born on Christmas Eve 1878 in Beustez, Switzerland to a poor family. His mother insisted that he take up a job at a local watchmaker’s workshop as a young boy, and it is believed that this experience sparked his eventual involvement in the automotive industry.
He continued to cultivate his craft until he emigrated to the United States in 1900 at the age of 21. After several years, Chevrolet moved to Michigan where his inventive mind and engineering skills would lead him to even greater heights.
Louis Chevrolet would eventually move forward and make his mark in the automotive industry, having been involved in the fastest vehicles of the day. Chevrolet began his career in the automotive world as a driver and working mechanic.

Cheviot
It was in 1905 that Chevrolet made the biggest impression with the invention of the world’s first enclosed racing bicycle, the Cheviot.
